There were three airfields operated by Ernest Buehl in Bucks county over the years. These slides were marked Buehl Field.

There were a number of small airfields throughout the country from the early days of aviation. As land became more valuable many of them disappeared.  As of 2020, the grass strip Van Sant Airport north of Doylestown was still in operation.

Ernest Herman Buehl was a German immigrant who came to the United States after World War 1. He had airports in Somerton, Eddington and Langhorne. I’m not sure which of those were the location of the photos above.

He had an air service named The Flying Dutchman

Buehl trained C Alfred Anderson who then trained the famous Tuskegee Airmen

The Van Sant Airport in Erwinna is still operating as a grass strip airport.
