Majesty’s Troops
Sat.
and Sun. March 12 and 13, 2005, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
The 22nd Regiment of Foot and the 4th NJ Volunteers will occupy
the area about the McKonkey Ferry Inn & engage in:
*musket
firing & drilling *posting of the guard *preparing their kits
for the march
*open-hearth cooking *period field music
Come and hear a different perspective on the American War for Independence!
Sunday, March 13th celebrates Charter Day—the founding of Pennsylvania!
Hourly tours of the Park are free of charge in honor of the day. Troop
program is free of charge both days.
18th Century Medical Conference
April 1, 2 and 3, 2005
Washington Crossing Historic Park is scheduled to host a conference for
reenactors, historians or anyone interested in learning about a variety of
fascinating topics relating to 18th century medicine. Sponsored by the 11th
PA regiment and the Continental Line Medical Department. For contact
information call the site at 215-493-4076 and your call will be directed to
the sponsor contacts. Fee is charged. Pre-registration required.
Sheep Shearing: A Return to a Colonial Spring
Fri.
and Sat., April 22 and 23, 2005, 9:30 am to 3:30 pm
Spend
some time with our four-legged friends at the Thompson-Neely House of
Washington Crossing Historic Park.
The event is scheduled to include:
*shearing of the sheep *spinning & weaving
demonstrations
*colonial laundering *kids games and activities *historic garden
interpretation
*colonial spring cooking *open house tours of the Thompson-Neely &
more!
*Friday, April 22nd is a special day for pre-school and young grade school
visitors. Teachers should call in advance to make reservations for
their group.

Hessians in the Park
Saturday, May 21, 2005, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm
Meet the members of the Regiments Von Donop and Von Knyphausen during this
Saturday event. The Hessians were a fierce fighting force allied with the
British during the Revolutionary War. Learn about Hessian camp life during
the War, see them drill and hear about their contributions to America after
the War. Admission is free
Dairy Day
Sat.,
June 4, 2005, noon to 4:00 pm
Cream, cheese, butter and all things dairy will be demonstrated and
discussed by domestic life historians Clarissa Dillon and Deborah Peterson.
Admission is free.
Visit with Gen. & Mrs. Washington
Sunday, June 19, 2005, noon to 4:00 pm
Bring
your father to meet a founding father during this Father’s
Day afternoon in the Park. The General and Mrs. Washington will gladly speak
with guests, answer questions and delight all who come to the site.
Admission is free.
Independence Day
Monday, July 4, 2005, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm
Come hear the call to the
Patriot cause, see the militia taking shape and witness the plea for troops
as we celebrate the summer of 1776! Kids activities, artillery drills and
much more will be featured at this event for the entire family…including a
noon time reading of the Declaration of Independence outside the historic
McKonkey Ferry Inn/Tavern.
Admission is charged.
Tales of the Marbleheaders
Sunday, July 31, 2005, 2:00 to 3:00 pm
This
story time in the boat barn is guaranteed to interest and amuse! Kids can
meet a Marbleheader and learn about the Durham boats, tie knots, sing
sea shanties, and hear about the bravery of Colonel Glover and his sailors
during December of 1776. Admission is free.
18th Century Slumbers
Sunday, August 7, 2005, noon to 4:00
Sew on a
quilt, stuff a mattress, try out the rope bed, learn about bed bugs, and
more at this activity day based around Colonial bedding and household work.
Youwill
never look at sleep the same way again. Admission is free.
Colonial Foodways
Saturday, August 27, 2005, 11:00 to 4:00
Open
hearth cooking, tavern foods and drinks, gardening, soldier’s
rations and more are scheduled to be demonstrated and discussed in the
Park. Local historic food experts will be on hand. If you are interested
in food history you will not want to miss this! Admission is charged.
Tavern Games
Saturday, September 10, 2005, 1:00 to 4:00 pm
Whist...Hazard...and more will be taught to and enjoyed by all who try their
hand at these historic tavern games. Join us at the McKonkey Ferry Inn for
a fun afternoon of Colonial entertainment. Admission is free.
Candlelight Tours
Colonial
Mirth, Music & Merriment, Sat., Sept. 24
Experience 18th c. fun as you take a guided tour through the lantern lit
village as vignettes of the past entertain the senses. This special evening
is presented by the 11th PA regiment. Each tour begins at the Visitor Center
at 4:00, 5:30 and 7:00. Tours last approximately one hour.
Taylorsville By Night Sat., October 8Take a
guided tour back in time through the lantern lit village of early 19th
century Taylorsville, now Washington Crossing Historic Park, as costumed
interpreters welcome you. See the buildings and learn about the lives of
people from the past through the eyes of an 1836 resident. Each tour begins
at the Visitor Center at 7:00 & 8:00 pm.
Participants must pre-register and pre-pay to reserve a space on the tour.
The non-refundable fees are $7.00 per adult, $4.00 for children 6-17, under
6 is free of charge. To register, please send checks to Washington Crossing
Historic Park, P. O. Box 103, Washington Crossing, PA 18977, Attn: Michelle.
Please include your name, address, and phone number as well as the number of
people in your group including children under 6 and the title, date
and time of the tour you wish to take. Make checks payable to Washington

Harvest Day
Sunday, October 16, 2005,
10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Join us for a historic look
at autumn customs, traditions, and frolics as Washington Crossing Historic
Park presents their annual harvest festival.
Experience
the 1770’s and 1830’s as you enjoy:
*the
scents of a fall meal cooking on an open hearth
*historic
craft demonstrations, music, and trades
*the
bounty of a colonial kitchen garden and how the harvest was preserved
*turn the
crank on the cider press, and visit the historic McKonkey Ferry Inn/Tavern
*jump in a
hay pile, play old-fashioned kids games, try your hand at a historic craft &
more...

December at the Park
Sunday, December 11, 2005,
10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Crossing Dress Rehearsal
See
the precursor to the Christmas Day Crossing as the troops row General
Washington across the Delaware River.
Experience such activities as tavern life in the McKonkey Ferry Inn,
open-hearth cooking, historic demonstrations, sutlers, and more at this
great family event. The Crossing rehearsal occurs around 1:00 pm.
Admission is charged.
Sunday, December 25, 2005,
around 1:00 pm
Washington Crosses the Delaware River
Witness the 53rd annual Crossing of the Delaware at this traditional
recreation of a crucial historic event. Admission is free.
River crossings are contingent upon safe conditions for participants.
Washington Crossing Historic Park is located at the
intersection of Rt. 32 and Rt. 532 in Washington Crossing, PA. Internet
