Virginia Forrest Recreational Area - Locks

The canal has a certain rustic beauty. In many cases, the original lock tender's homes are still standing and the locks have been restored. If you are looking for something to do on a Sunday afternoon, what better way than to pack a lunch, put on your walking shoes and take a quite nature walk along the canal.

The locks were used to raise and lower the canal boats.
